[Dow Jones] The Indian government's subsidy to fuel retailers almost halved during the last fiscal year that ended March 31, according to government data. The subsidy during the last fiscal stood at 723.14 billion rupees, or about 48% down from the 1.39 trillion rupees a year earlier, the data showed. India's federal government, and state-run refiners, Oil & Natural Gas Corp (500312.BY), Oil India (533106.BY); and Gail (In船用阀门dia) (532155.BY) share a part of the cost of the fuel subsidy衡水 to the public by discounting the sales of fuel products to state-run fuel retailing companies--Indian Oil Corp (530965.B电动辊筒Y); Bharat Petroleum (500547.BY) and Hindustan Petroleum (500104.BY). The reduced subsidy was offset by a steep fall in global crude oil prices. The Indian government last October cut its fuel subsidy and started to let companies sell fuel such as gasoline and diesel at market rates.
